Tesla is often referred to as a battery manufacturer. However, this is just one of the services they provide because the company is more popularly known for its high-end electric cars.

This popularity began in 2008 when Tesla introduced the Tesla Roadster, acknowledged as the first modern electric sports car. A follow-up product, the Model S sedan, was released, which soon became one of the most popular electric vehicles in the world.

     Tesla Electric Car Colors

Tesla has managed to keep its reputation as an innovator when it comes to electric vehicles. This is because it offers something different and produces the most attractive and compelling car designs and colors.

In 2018, the Tesla Model S electric car was available in 7 different color options, as listed below.

    1. Solid Black

A Tesla Model S in black can be mesmerizing when viewed under the moonlight.

    2. Silver Metallic

The color is much like white, but it does a better job of hiding dirt and scratches perfectly.

    3. Deep Blue Metallic

In bright sunlight, the blue metallic color of the Tesla Model S shines brightest. This is the ideal Tesla color when driving in broad daylight.

    4. Pearl White Multi-Coat

The color is so easy to maintain that a pearl white Model S is sought after by many drivers.

    5. Red Multi-coat

Like pearl white, the Tesla Model S in red multi-coat is in great demand and never wavers every year.

    6. Midnight Silver Metallic and Obsidian Black Metallic

These last two colors were removed from the list of Tesla Model S electric car colors by Tesla CEO and founder Elon Musk, even when many consider them the best. Musk says his decision was based on simplifying manufacturing, producing efficient cars, and increasing service quality.

Nevertheless, Silver Metallic and Obsidian Black Metallic are still available as Tesla car colors, but only on a “special order” basis. Specifically, you may order these two colors if you prefer them, but at a higher price.

     Tesla’s Color Problems

According to experts in auto body repair St Petersburg FL, the tech company has been the subject of criticisms about its car paintwork in the past. Some claim that this has been one of Tesla’s most problematic features. Critics also said that the current paintwork is inconsistent with the thickness design.

However, recent announcements by Elon Musk suggest that the company is working on the problem so it can reach a broader market. One plan involves the increase of existing paint colors by releasing a new set. This will allow Tesla enthusiasts to choose their desired car color, given their additional options.

     Tesla’s New Paint Colors

Tesla heard the cry of fans when they announced the new car colors in their latest update. This is something that Tesla hasn’t done in many years, and its followers believe the announcement is a piece of really good news.

Musk claims that the Tesla Model Y will feature multi-layered paints as supervised by Gigafactory Berlin. This is Tesla’s very own manufacturing plant that features the most advanced paint shop.

Below are the new Tesla colors you will soon see on the road.

    1. Mercury Silver Metallic

Stunning as silver, this color on a Tesla car will further add to its shiny appeal.

    2. Abyss Blue Multi-Coat

A deep blue color is well-loved, especially by the youth and those who are young at heart.

    3. Deep Crimson Multicoat

This is Musk’s favorite color which he is now set to share with Tesla car lovers. The color was seen on Musk’s personal Tesla Model S electric vehicle.

Drone Video of Tesla’s New Paint Colors

Tesla is still keeping its fans guessing when and what models will receive the new colors. However, recent drone footage released shows Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai plant having several Tesla Model 3 cars set in bold and stunning colors. Specifically, the video captured various Tesla cars sporting baby blue, mint green, teal, and pink hues.

It is possible that Tesla is testing a new palette of colors so it can offer more options to its customers. These colors could be the next step for the prominent tech company, which could follow in Apple’s footsteps by releasing more eye-catching products.

     Key Takeaway

Tesla is seen as the modern pioneer in the manufacture of electric cars. This has helped the company gain tremendous prominence as electric vehicles are viable alternatives to traditional cars. However, Its popularity could be waning,  given the limited color options for Tesla EVs.

Yet, the Tesla announcement on the release of new colors for its electric cars is a sign that the company listens to its customers. With more and new color options available, EV sales could further increase in the coming years. This bodes well for them and electric vehicle lovers biographyer.
